Spirits In The Sky at Hotel Cafe

So, this is a pretty late blog posting of a brilliant show I saw about a month ago. Spirits In The Sky is Billy Corgan’s (Smashing Pumpkins) Sky Saxon (The Seeds) tribute band featuring himself, guitarist Dave Navarro, Strawberry Alarm Clock keyboardist Mark Weitz, Electric Prunes bassist Mark Tulin, Linda Strawberry and new Smashing Pumpkins drummer Mike Byrne (among other talents). He formed the band after Saxon passed away earlier this summer. I was fortunate enough to catch their last show in Los Angeles at Hotel Cafe, a very small venue making for a great intimate setting, after missing the show in Long Beach (which was only a mile from my house). Tickets for that show sold out in minutes. During the show, Billy was very engaged with the audience and often humorous… especially when hosting the costume contest. Dave was awesome, as usual, and it was great watching the dueling guitars. Songs, new and old, were excellent and on point (set lists for various shows are posted all over the web).

Enough rambling, I’m really here to show off these photos. Be sure to check out these folks on The Twitter as well as my interior shots of Kristopher & Ginger Pooley’s loft (My awesome neighbors. Her aunt makes the best salsa verde… she should bottle and sell it!) on Apartment Therapy LA. Sweet pad. Here are a few links to check out:

  1. Love your stuff and your domain name. I worry about the digital age and not seeing what was really there when the photo was taken. I wrote an article called "Something Has Come Between Us" and it talks about how technology has come between what is real..like actually have a conversation instead of texting. Or…the real image instead of the overdone photoshopped one.

    Keep up the great work!
