Being a music nerd I’m always excited when I have the chance to shoot for Billboard Magazine. For this round I was lucky enough to photograph Jeffrey Harleston over at Universal Music. Jeff has worked with many musical icons including Mary J. Blige, Common, and New Edition. We had a great time chatting about his experiences with such artists, as well as how the music industry has changed over the years. Be sure to head on over to Billboard.com for the full interview.

Liars Shoot for No Tofu Magazine

Liars for No Tofu Magazine

Facts are facts and fiction’s fiction. These are lyrics from electro-punk band Liars recent single Mess On A Mission, off their latest LP Mess (released by Mute Records). Earlier this summer I had the honor of photographing these talented musicians for NO TOFU Magazine.

For this assignment’s location I chose the gritty Old LA Zoo, which has been abandoned since the sixties. The textures and angled lines of the decrepit zoo worked well in matching my visual style. It was actually a pretty creepy setting to work in but added the perfect eerie flavor to the photos. And with the help of amazing stylist Mary Pearson Andrew the look really began to take form.

Liars were great to work with, and even though there were no ghost animal sightings, we still had a great time shooting and came away with some great images. Be sure to check out the band’s music and website HERE.
