Since high school The Cure has been one of my favorite all time bands ever. Like, life-changing favorites (don’t ask me what my favorite album is or my head might explode). So when I was able to photograph co-founder Lol Tolhurst for his new memoir Cured, I can tell you I couldn’t have been more honored (well, that’s the generic description of how I felt… I was actually STOKED!!). The photo session took place at my home studio in Los Angeles. Lol was an absolute pleasure to work with and we both were thrilled with the results. After the shoot he graciously stuck around to sign some Cure records and posters from my personal collection. I can’t wait to read the book and definitely hope we can collaborate again in the future!
As of this writing Lol is in the UK promoting the memoir. If you live in the U.S. be sure to check for book tour dates starting in October. You can find out everything you need to know at lol.tolhurst.com. (it’s a great site!)
Also take a look at the links below for recent interviews with Lol. Enjoy!
Earlier this year I was previliged to travel to Charlotte, NC and shoot the key art for Investigation Discovery’s new true crime series I Am Homicide. Here are a couple of posters from the show which stars detective Garry McFadden.
Last March I photographed Del Taco CEO Paul Murphy at the Del Taco headquarters in Lake Forest, CA for Franchise Times Magazine. Paul was a pleasure to work with. Many times it can be a challenge establishing rapport with a subject in a short amount of time, especially when they are not fond of having their photo taken. During the first set-up I was quick to ask who Paul’s favorite musical group was and he said the Grateful Dead. I always play music on a shoot when possible so we cranked up the Dead and ended up having a great time while capturing some great moments.
